This webpage serves as the online home for the ICAZ (International Council for Archaeozoology) official working group AZOOSA (Archaeozoologists of Southern Africa).

If you work on any aspect of fauna in Southern Africa, you are welcome to join us in our discussions.

We aim to:

  • Form a network
  • Share skills, information and knowledge unique to, but not limited to, Archaeozoology in the SADC region
  • Establish basics for the discipline in the SADC region
  • Further Archaeozoological research in the SADC region
  • Find common ground and cross-border Archaeozoological research projects to unify, streamline and focus Archaeozoological research
  • Explore the optimum use of technology as a networking aid
  • Explore and use various technologies to further the Archaeozoological education and training of students in the SADC region

AZOOSA has a closed mailing list. If you wish to be added to the mailing list, please see our ‘Join’ page.

The work-group was formed in May 2019.
